Leaving the garden of Eden

5/9/2015

This was our final day at the bombed out church (until we re-open in 2017). We all felt really sad to be leaving. We wanted to leave the space tidy in a spirit of respect for the church. We re-seeded the grass, tidied up and pumped out 5o gallons of water from the crypt!
As we locked up all the homeless guys came and said goodbye, they were all crying, sad to see us go. Dave Clarkson (Carla's Dad) was the last visitor to the church, it seemed fitting somehow. Luke (the seagull that we rescued earlier in the summer) also came to say goodbye. It feels like Milton's Paradise Lost, locking the door for the final time, leaving the garden of Eden..... so sad. But as a famous Austrian once said "We'll be back"!
