Today was a wonderful day, lots of live music, street food and a screening of Casablanca to round off the day. All of the volunteers were in a sad but buoyant mood, fighting back the tears and getting on with the tasks at hand. Chris from the band Silent Sleep performed some of his songs, including our favourite, "meet me on the steps of the bombed out church". We closed for one hour to set up for the movie screening of "Casablanca", everyone pulled together to be ready in time; Little Anthony, Paul, Sam, Elsa, Jilly, Ash, Jake, Nicole, Anne-Marie, Dave, Connor, Lucas and I.
We had to put carpet down for people to sit on as we ran out of chairs, we thought 300 would be enough! The movie looked great, sitting under the giant transparent marquee. Couldn't help but cry a little during the film, it made me think back over the last decade and all that we had achieved. The audience loved the film and gave us a big round of applause at the end.
We all had a lovely time, sad, but resolving to re-gain the church and keep up the good work
