Tea Dance in the gardens

2/5/2005

In May 2005 we held a tea dance in the gardens of St Luke's for all of the people who kindly agreed to be interviewed for our "Finest Hour" Liverpool May Blitz Sound Archive.
It was a lovely day, members of Wirral Youth Theatre dressed up in 1940's clothes and danced with the elders.
The band, most of whom could remember the Blitz, was formed around a lady (in her eighties) on the drum kit, she had only been playing for 3 months!
Fun was had by all, until the heavens opened and everyone decamped to Hannah's Bar across the street, where the party continued "just like in the air raid shelters" one lady said.
The first video was made by Hambi and features some sections of our Liverpool May Blitz Sound Archive "Finest Hour" . The press clipping is a review of the event by the Liverpool Echo on the 3rd May 2005. The 2nd video is a slide show video from the event (photos by Mark Louden, music by Billie Holiday)
