poppy garden

This year to mark remembrance, we’re inviting the people of Liverpool to join us in making poppy flowers from plastic bottles, for an installation in the memorial garden here at St Luke’s.

All the poppies contributed will be planted en masse around the ‘Truce’ statue, in tribute to those who have lost their lives in combat.

If you’d like to take part, this page has everything you need to know

Is a donation compulsory?
Given the difficult times we are sharing, we would only ask those who are able to make a donation. If you are unable to donate, we would still be delighted and most grateful to receive the contribution of your poppies.
If I donate, where does it go?
For those who are able, the church is encouraging a donation of £2 with each poppy - £1 will be forwarded to the poppy appeal, while the other is dedicated to the organisation of further community projects at St Luke’s.
How do I donate?
Please visit the top of this webpage to find a link to donate via paypal. We ask that you do not send in cash donations with your poppies and only use the online donation option provided above.
What does sponsoring a poppy mean?
Sponsoring a poppy is an opportunity to donate toward the planting of a poppy made by our team here at St Luke’s on your behalf. Please put the name you wish the poppy be dedicated to in the 'add note' section on PayPal.
How do I send in my poppy?
There are two options for contributing your finished poppies.

1. send your poppies in by post to: The Poppy Post box, St Luke’s Church, Leece Street, Liverpool, L1 2TR. We recommend placing your poppy or poppies in a regular or large envelope. The Poppy Post Box has a 6x30cm letterbox, please ensure your post will fit, as anything that cannot will be undeliverable.

2. You’re welcome to pop your finished poppies into the Post Box in person at St Luke’s. The box is located on the railings on Leece Street and accessible from the pavement. A large poppy flower is attached to the front of the box to help you identify it and signage will point the way.

Do I need to attach my poppy to a stick?
No, you just need to make your plastic poppy flowerhead and send it in. We’ll attach your flower to a garden stake and plant it in the memorial garden on your behalf.
What’s the deadline for contributing a poppy?
Please get your finished poppy to us by Saturday the 7th November. This will allow us the opportunity to plant your poppy in time for a full display on Remembrance Sunday on the 8th
Where will my poppy be planted?
Your poppy will be planted in the memorial garden here at St Luke’s which contains the ‘Truce’ statue by Andy Edwards, and is located adjacent to Leece Street on the north side of the grounds
Who will plant my poppy?
Our dedicated team at St Luke’s will be on hand to attach all contributed flowerheads to garden stakes and plant them in the memorial garden on your behalf.
